Salix ? Moist soils in sun, will tolerate part shade. D  

Salix alba BritzensisS. alba vitellina ?Britzensis? AGM Slender catkins appear with the young leaves in spring. Narrow light green leaves, deciduous. Young stems are orange-red especially in winter. Height a vigorous tree up to 15 metres. Spread 5 to 8 metres. OFTEN CUT HARD TO ENCOURAGE YOUNG SHOOTS.
S. daphnoides (also grown as a tree) Lance shaped glossy dark green leaves, deciduous. Silver male catkins in spring. Purple shoots with a bluish white bloom in winter. Height a fast growing small tree, 5 to 8 metres. Spread 4 to 5 metres.

S. elaeagnos (Was Salix rosmarinifolia) Slender catkins appear with the leaves in spring. Long narrow leaves, greyish when young, later green above and white beneath, deciduous. Height and Spread medium to large shrub 1.5 to 3 metres.

Salix exiguaS. exigua Catkins appear with the, narrow silvery leaves in April, deciduous. Height an erect large shrub to small tree 3 to 5 metres. Spread 2 to 3 metres.
S. fargesii Slender ascending catkins in spring. Red winter buds on glossy redebrown stems. Long darlk green glossy leaves, deciduous. Height and Spread 3 metres.

S. gracilistyla ?Melanostachys? Very dark catkins with black scales and red anthers open to yellow in March, before the leaves. Green foliage greyish below, deciduous. Height and Spread a medium sized shrub 1.5 to 3 metres.

S. hastata ‘Wehrhahnii’ AGM  Silver grey male catkins in April. Mid green, roundish leaves, some autumn colour, deciduous. Height about 1 metre. Spread 1.2to 1.5 metres.

S. helvetica AGM Silky grey, catkins turn yellow after appearing in April. Grey green leaves, deciduous. Height and Spread slowly reaches 0.75 to 1 metre. 

S. integra ‘Hakuro-nishiki’ A foliage shrub with green leaves conspicuously blotched white, young leaves almost white, occasionally pink tinged, deciduous. Height and Spread about 1 to 1.5metres. The foliage can be scorched in very hot sites.

S. lanata AGM Large, yellowish green catkins appear in March and April with the leaves. Mid green roundish leaves covered with a grey-white felt, deciduous.  Height 0.6 to 1 metre. Spread 0.3 to 0.9 metres.

S. repens ?Argentea? Silver grey catkins in April and May. Grey green narrow leaves covered with silky white hairs.  Deciduous.  Height 1 to 2 metres. Spread 1.5 to 2.5 metres.
