PRUNUS A large group of spectacular flowering trees. They have various different colours of flowers, leaves and vary in their habit of growth from small pendulous trees to large growing trees. They are best grown in full sun and in a Well-drained soil.

Prunus AccoladeP.  ?Accolade? AGM Clusters of deep pink buds opening to semi-double, rich pink flowers in March and April. Toothed, mid-green leaves often turn orange-red in autumn, deciduous. Height a small tree with spreading branches 6 to 8 metres. Spread 3 to 4 metres.

Prunus AmanogowaP. ?Amanogawa? AGM Semi-double, slightly fragrant, pale pink flowers in late April and early May. Oval, leaves, green bronze when young, mid-green later some autumn tints, deciduous. Height an erect, columnar  tree 6 to 8 metres. Spread very narrow 1 to 2 metres.

Prunus cerasifera NigraP. cerasifera ?Nigra’ AGM Small pink flowers, fading to blush are borne in profusion in March and April. Leaves blackish-purple gradually turning bronze-purple, deciduous, blackish young stems. Height a small tree about 4 metres. Spread 2 to 3 metres.

Prunus KanzanP. ?Kanzan? AGM Large, showy, double purplish-pink flowers, mid to late April. Coppery-red young leaves, green later, often yellow in the autumn, deciduous. Height ascending branches, spreading with age, 8 to 10 metres. Spread 6 to 8 metres.
