KNIPHOFIA (Red-hot Poker) Perennial with tall spikes of flowers and narrow rush-like leaves. To prevent damage to the crown the leaves on evergreen varieties should be tied together during the winter. Requires a well-drained soil in full sun. Dislikes wet winters.
