Gunnera magellanica Mat forming with rounded toothed leaves, often bronze-tinged when young on short creeping stems. Small green unisexual flowers with reddish bracts on male and female plants. Best in part shade and a moist soil.

Gunnera manicata AGM (Giant Rhubarb) Large, light green flower spikes in early summer, followed by orange-brown seed pods. Vast green leaves, can be 2 metres or more across, on spiny stems. Height 1.8 metres. Spread 2.4 metres often more. Grow in moist soil by water. Protect the crown with old leaves in winter. |
