SALIX A diverse
group of deciduous trees varying in size from small to large. Suitable
for most soils, many are suitable for wet areas, and growing in sun or
part shade. The young shoots on some varieties are attractively coloured
in winter.

| S. daphnoides Has lance shaped, glossy, dark green leaves, silver male catkins in Spring and purple shoots with bluish white bloom in winter. Height fast growing small tree 5 to 8 metres. Spread 4 to 5 metres. |
S. ‘Erythroflexuosa’ (Golden Curls) Pale green twisted leaves on curiously twisted, orange-yellow shoots which are very distinct in winter. Height 3 to 4 metres. Spread 2 to 3 metres.

S. helvetica TOP WORKED Catkins appear with the young leaves in April. Round leaves, grey green above, white below. Small growing shrub grown on a straight stem. Grows about one metre taller than its grafted height. Spread to about 1 metre.
