FRAXINUS Large growing, deciduous, trees suitable for most soils especially in sunny sites. Avoid windy sites as branches are brittle.

F. angustifolia ‘Raywood’ AGM Insignificant flowers. Leaves have 7 to 13 dark green leaflets, turn to plum purple in the autumn, deciduous. Height fast growing tree to about 10 metres. Spread 3 to 6 metres.
F. excelsior Clusters of winged fruits, reminiscent of bunches of keys. Dark green leaves, made up of seven to eleven leaflets, deciduous. Sooty black buds.  Height  a quick growing large tree 15 metres plus. Spread 4 to 8 metres.
F. excelsior ‘Jaspidea’ AGM Clusters of winged fruits, reminiscent of a bunch of keys when they fruit. Height a fast growing large tree 15 metres +. Spread 5 to 6 metres.
F. excelsior ‘Pendula’ AGM Clusters of winged fruits, reminiscent of bunches of keys. Dark green leaves, made up of seven to eleven leaflets, deciduous. Sooty black buds.  Height  a weeping tree to 6 to 10 metres. Spread 4 to 5 metres.
F. ornus AGM Panicles of scented creamy white flowers appear in May. Dull green leaves made up of five to seven leaflets, deciduous. Height a bushy tree to 6 metres. Spread 4 to 5 metres.
