Nyssa - Well drained, moist, acid soil in sun or part shade. D

N. sinensis AGM Long pointed leaves, purplish when young, then dark green until the autumn when they turn scarlet, deciduous. Height and Spread a large shrub to small tree, 2.5 to 3.5 metres.

N. sylvatica AGM Insignificant flowers. Oval, mid green leaves which turn scarlet, red or orange in the autumn, deciduous. Height a slow growing tree 5 to 6 metres or more. Spread broadly columnar 2.5 to 3.5 metres. Often suckers to form a large thicket after many years.
