LONICERA (Honeysuckle) A vigorous twining climber. Different varieties require different conditions. See also shrubs

L. x americana AGM (Also known as L. x italica) Clusters of white, soon becoming pale, then dark yellow with a purple tinge outside, June and July. Grey green leaves. Deciduous. Height to 6 metres. Sun or part shade in a moist well-drained soil.

L. x brownii ’Dropmore Scarlet’ Tubular, bright scarlet flowers from July to October. Mid green leaves. Deciduous. Height  to 4.5 metres. Most soils in sun or part shade.

L. etrusca ‘Superba’ AGM Scent
L. x heckrotti ‘Goldflame’ Scented, yellow flowers, flushed purple held on the ends of the shoots, July to August. Greyish green leaves. Deciduous. Height a twining shrubby climber to about 4.5 metres. Will tolerate a wide range of soils.
L. henryii Small, yellow flowers stained red, June and July and followed by black berries. Glossy green leaves, paler below, evergreen or semi-evergreen. Height to about 6 metres. Most soils and aspects.

L. x italica ‘Harlequin’ Reddish purple outside, creamy white inside, sweetly fragrant, May, June and often again in late summer. Leaves variegated green, cream and pink. Deciduous. Height  to 6 metres. Sun or part shade in a well-drained soil.

L. japonica ‘Aureoreticulata’ Bright green, attractively marbled yellow, leaves, especially in the spring. Deciduous. Rarely flowers. Height  to 3 metres.  Sun and a well-drained soil.

Lonicera japonica HallianaL. japonica ‘Halliana’ AGM Very fragrant, white flowers aging to pale yellow are borne from June to October. Pale green leaves evergreen except in exposed sites and hard weather.  Height to about 6 metres. Will grow in sun or shade in most soils.

L. japonica ‘Mint Crisp’ Very

L. japonica var. repens AGM Very fragrant, white flowers, flushed purple on the outside from June to September. Dark green leaves and stems flushed purple. Deciduous.  Height to 6 metres.  Well-drained, moist soil.

L. periclymenum ‘Belgica’ Reddish purple outside, creamy white inside, sweetly fragrant, May, June and often again in late summer. Dark green leaves, greyish below. Deciduous. Height  to 6 metres. Sun or part shade in a well-drained soil.

Lonicera per Graham ThomasL. per. ‘Graham Thomas’ AGM White bud open to fragrant, white, flowers which gradually age to yellow, June to September. Dark green leaves, greyish below. Deciduous. Height  to 6 metres. Sun or part shade in a well-drained soil.

L. per. ‘Serotina’ AGM Reddish purple outside, creamy white inside, sweetly fragrant, July to October. Dark green leaves, greyish below. Deciduous. Height  to 6 metres. Sun or part shade in a well-drained soil.

L. x tellmanniana Bright yellowish-orange flowers are carried in clusters at the ends of the shoots in June and July. Oval green leaves. Deciduous. Height  to 4.5 metres. Best in partial or even full shade and well-drained soil.

L. tragophylla AGM Bright, golden-yellow, tubular flowers in clusters on the ends of the shoots, June and July. Dark green leaves, greyish beneath. Deciduous. Height to 6 metres. Best grown in almost complete shade, useful for growing through trees.
